The recently legislated Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) are still in the early stages of implementation and take-up, but it is very closely based on the globally recognised GHG Protocol and very similar to the CSRD framework recently adopted by the EU.
The product is designed to be used by the finance team within the reporting organization. Environmental knowledge will help, but is not strictly required to navigate the report preparation process.
The software was designed from the beginning in conjunction with a 3rd party assurance team. It will track all data entry activity and prompt the user for additional information regarding the source of input data, the data gathering methods and anything else which may be needed by the assurance provider. The application includes an “assurance report” which will include all of the input data, the emission factors & methods applied, the sources of data etc in a single document, ready for your assurance team.
There is currently no other software product which includes the functionality of Omtero and which has been explicitly designed to meet the requirements of the ASRS. Unlike most alternatives, Omtero is not just a generic GHG calculator or report generator, it is specifically designed for the Australian market and for the ASRS.
The Omtero solution will help organisations prepare a fully ASRS compliant GHG report with significantly less effort and cost than a DIY solution or a solution using one of the large multi-disciplinary consultancy. The Omtero product is specifically designed to create a streamlined reporting process to meet the ASRS requirements. It can however also be used and customized to create voluntary climate reports and CSRD compliant reports.
