National Pollutant Inventory (NPI)
The Omtero team has prepared hundreds of NPI reports for facilities across mining, energy, waste management and heavy industry, from small sites reporting two or three substances to complex multi-site operations. NPI reports are submitted to the relevant state or territory regulator, generally by 30 September each year.
The effort in NPI reporting comes from two places: retrieving and formatting large volumes of operational data, and identifying the correct estimation method for each process. Our approach reduces both.
Our platform
Our NPI platform was designed and built in-house, with an extensive library of pre-configured process templates:
- Mining: blasting, drilling, crushing, dumping, heavy vehicles, storage tanks, unpaved roads, wind and water erosion, and leach pads.
- Waste and landfill: landfill gas combustion, gas engines, flaring and leachate.
- Energy: coal-fired generation, coal mine gas generation, gas engines, flaring and formation water.
Calculations are fully transparent, so your team can see how each activity drives reported emissions. Data captured for NPI also feeds your NGER report. Our platform is also used by other environmental consultancies to deliver NPI reporting for their clients.
